One More Week of Classes and One Week of Finals..

Hallo jedermann, I cannot believe that April has flown by as quickly as it has. Only one more week of classes and then finals. I am also in the midst of moving out of my apartment and moving back home. Let's just say that one of my roommates for the past 7 months has not been the nicest person out there. I never knew just how much my one room could hold. I've got so many boxes and bags. It makes me wonder how I am ever going to pack for Austria. What should I pack? What do I need? How do I bring enough clothes for all the seasons? What will I need for my room? I just cannot fathom how I will decide all of this. Well I've got some time to plan haha.

A lot of planning has also been happening for my upcoming time abroad. I found out that I need an Aufenhaltsbewilligung or Temporary Residence Permit. On the plus side to all the paperwork I get to take a trip to Chicago, which I've never visited. Anybody have a suggestion of what to see while in Chicago? I'm also in the midst of planning a trip to NYC to visit a friend. I'm going to be traveling so much this summer it's great! Back to studying abroad, we were given our options for dorms yesterday. I am so excited and can't wait to see who I'll be living with. Hopefully they won't be like one of my current roommates. I can only hope.

Well I must be off to work, which I have one more shift after today :-D

Hat ein schönes Wochenende und Ostern.

Meetings, Meetings, and More Meetings

Well the end of the school year quickly approaching and I can't wait for it to get here! Since the end of the year is coming so much is going on with the study abroad program. I have a meeting tonight that is supposed to "Prepare" us for the experience. I'm not entirely sure a meeting can prepare somebody for living in a new place and culture for that matter. It's also scholarship award season! I won a $1000 scholarship! I get $500 a semester while abroad. That'll almost pay for a one way plane ticket.

I know this is an incredibly short post but I've got to run to this meeting!!

Tanz-Marathon Woche!!!

Crazy times are happening right now!! With school and Dance Marathon I don't know what to do! I have a huge paper due tomorrow for my Education in a Pluralistic Society class, but who wants to hear about that? I'm doing a great job procrastinating by updating my Blog haha. It is also Dance Marathon Week! What is Dance Marathon (DM)? DM is a 32 hour long event in which participants stand for the entire length of time to raise money for Children's Miracle Network. It is going to be a blast! All week leading up to the event is Dance week. There are many different events that go on through out the week to get everyone excited for the 32 hour event. There are also bikers that bike all the way from Cincinnati back to Bowling Green!! How sweet is that!? I am participating as a "dancer" so I'll be standing for the 32 hours having a blast with the other 100 or so dancers. :-D I've also had my Intro to studying abroad in Austria class a few times. It has gotten me even more stoked about going abroad! I cannot wait! I'm currently looking for flights and was wondering if any of you know of airlines I should look into as well as agencies to buy my tickets from..ie Expedia, Hotwire, etc..

Hat ein schönes Woche!!

März bereits??

I cannot believe that it's March 19th! I did not realize until today that it's been over a month since I have blogged. Sorry about that, it has been crazy here with school and spring break. Speaking of spring break my first big travel of the year occurred. I got to travel to Texas for a week to visit family. It was a fabulous trip and I got to fly! I love flying, especially getting to see so many different airports. I also get to meet some really cool people. For instance, I met a very nice man that was in the Army. He was returning from leave and we got to talk the entire flight about where all we have been in the world etc. School is going well. I'm going insane with the amount of  course work and tutoring my students in reading. My intro to studying abroad class began this week. I think my head exploded just a bit from this class. The Austrian dialect is CRAZY! I could barely understand my teacher. It's going to be interesting but I'm going to love going abroad and learning so much! I love traveling and experiencing new things. I believe that after this lengthy trip I'm going to have the travel bug majorly! Hopefully I'll get to travel a lot once I have money again haha.

I just found out that my mum is letting me move home at the end of June!!! I'm super excited but a bit sad that I'm leaving my friends sooner than planned. But I'll be up here visiting :-D

Well must be off, Harry Potter is on TV :-D

The Opera

So, I have been having nightmares lately, again. This happens every now and then where I have horrible nightmares and can't sleep at night. Anyway, I was up this morning, at like 2:30, and decided to look into operas that are being performed in the area. I have always wanted to see an opera and having seen Pretty Woman recently I've wanted to see one even more. In the film Richard Gere's character Edward says: "People's reactions to opera the first time they see it is very dramatic; they either love it or they hate it. If they love it, they will always love it. If they don't, they may learn to appreciate it, but it will never become part of their soul"  (Pretty Woman). This really intrigued me. I began to wonder if I would enjoy an Opera. The Toledo Museum of Art happens to be putting La Traviata on in the month of April. It so happens that this is the Opera that Edward and Vivian see in Pretty Woman. What a better way for me to experience an Opera than one from one of my new favorite films? There is a major downside to finding all this out, the cost to see the performance. For a Sunday showing in the upper balcony a ticket costs $98!!! That's right $98!!! Plus tax!! I'm a college student who wants to experience the arts, I can't afford a ticket that costs $98. I have heard from friends that seeing an opera in Europe is much less expensive. I can only hope that this is true when I go abroad this fall.

What are your favorite Operas? Have you seen any? Do you want to see one? Do you love it or hate it?

Time Is Flying By

Sorry that I have not been a good blogger lately. School and Sorority commitments have taken over my life. I hope everyone has survived the big Blizzard of 2011. I've been looking into what I want to take with me abroad.. I don't want to under prepared, but I also don't want to take so much with me that I can't handle it. Packing for approximately nine months of my life without being able to go home and get something I have forgotten or need. Then again I must remember that I can always go shopping! I love shopping haha. In fact, my first unit plan that I wrote for my general methods course discusses the different places like Supermarkts, Einkaufzentrum, Apotheke, Drogerie etc.. I can't wait to teach one of these lessons to the class.. I will hopefully be teaching the Supermarkt/markt one. My Study Abroad class begins in about a month! I am so excited! So this fact will have to get me through the next few weeks or so.. That and spring break is quickly approaching!!

Hat ein schönes Woche und Wochenende!

Where Did January Go??

Hallo everyone! Right, so it's January 24, 2011.. Where did the month go? It has completely flown by and I'm afraid that the rest of this semester, and year for that matter, is going to go just as quickly if not quicker. This is what I wanted though..Right? I do want this semester to end but I don't want to leave my friends/school just yet. I was looking at my calendar the other day and realized that in just under 7 months I'll be moving home for the month before I go to Austria.. SEVEN MONTHS! Three of those I'll be in school, the other four I'll be working my butt off so that I can have a little money while being abroad..

On a higher note, It's been snowing on and off everyday for the past couple of weeks! FINALLY! My mom keeps joking that while I'm overseas that I'll experience the mildest winter that Austria will have seen in years, while back home they are getting blizzard after blizzard. I really hope that does not happen.. But I would probably die of laughter because we would have been right!

It's time to get back to work.. Class that is..

PS. This is a bit random but being the Movie Fanatic that I am, where is a good site to find international film release dates so that I can catch some films that I'm looking forward to but will be out of the country during their US release dates..

Haben eine schönes Woche!!
